Software UpdatesBoth Windows XP and Mac OS X have built-in applets to monitor software updates for your computer. To activate Automatic Updates for Windows XP, go to the Control Panel, then select Automatic Updates. Choices for updates are automatic (with auto-install and scheduling), download with schedule prompt, notice of updates available, and turn off automatic updates. For Mac OS X, go to System Preferences, then select Software Update. Under the Update Software tab, choose Check for updates – daily, weekly or monthly. “Download important updates in the background” should be selected to get the prompt when updates are ready.http://www.microcenter.com/random_access/newsletters/06_newsletters/0706/toolbox_tip.html
